Vueling Press Release

Vueling senior management has met with the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ministry of Development to explain the measures implemented to improve its operations and customer service.

Barcelona, ​​July 4, 2016. Vueling wants to apologize once again to everyone affected by the cancellations and the delays in the past few days. Passengers are the top priority of the company and both employees and members of the Executive Committee are focusing all efforts on solving the problems.

The company´s operations have improved during the day, thanks to additional measures that were implemented.

Members of Vueling´s Executive Committee have held two meetings this afternoon with representatives of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ministry of Development to explain the measures that the airline is taking in order to re-establish its normal operations.

Vueling´s  Chairman, Javier Sanchez-Prieto, reiterated the apology to passengers affected: “I want to apologize to our customers for delays and cancellations during the last few days. All employees are focused on correcting the situation.” Sanchez-Prieto acknowledged that “there have been failures within our operations” but we are “putting in place more resources and more means so this situation will not happen again.”

Finally, the company wishes to advise that from today July 4 at 19:00 until Wednesday July 6 at 6:00 a national strike in France will cause restrictions in our normal operations. Barcelona, 3 of July 2016 – David García Blancas, as Commercial Director and member of the Executive Management Committee, would like to communicate the following information:

¨The company would like to reiterate the message that it is sorry to all of the passengers who have been affected by the operational difficulties during the last few days.

Today the situation is getting relatively better and we are seeing fewer delays. For the moment we anticipate that 14 flights may be cancelled out of the almost 700 that we´ll be operating today and we´ll be providing a further update this afternoon.

All passengers who have suffered a cancellation have been re-allocated a seat in the next available flight or – including in cases of delays of more than three hours – we have offered a refund of the value of the ticket to those who no longer wish to fly.

We have opened a telephone line dedicated to customers affected by this situation (+34 931 22 08 51) and additionally customers can consult the status of their flight via our website and our App.

In this way we have also offered help to passengers waiting in line at the airport ticket office in the form of food and refreshments, and Vueling will refund the additional costs that passengers have incurred as a result of the delays and cancellations.

In a difficult situation such as this all of the employees of Vueling are working at the maximum level capable to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. We are putting in place additional shifts and contracting additional services this weekend, in particular in Customer Service. All of this with the objective of offering our passengers the service and quality that they deserve.

Vueling starts flights between Zurich and South Tenerife Airport with 7 thousand seats available

The airline offers this summer the new route between Zurich and South Tenerife with more than 7 thousand seats available until the end of October

The new destination is added to those seven routes already operating to Barcelona, Malaga, Ibiza, Santiago de Compostela, Oporto, Gran Canaria and Rome

Barcelona, June 9th 2016 – Vueling will fly from now on between Zurich and South Tenerife Airport, in the Canary Islands, from 8th of June onwards. More than 7,000 seats will be available during the summer season, on one weekly flight. The aircraft used on the route will be the 180-seat Airbus A320.

The inaugural flight was celebrated yesterday with the presence of Ulla Siebke, Vueling’s Country Manager in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and Natalie Gessler, Manager Airline Affairs at Zurich Airport.

Vueling started its operations from Zurich Airport in 2010, when the first route to Santiago de Compostela was launched. One year later, the airline launched its second route to Barcelona El Prat Airport, which has now up to 14 weekly flights.
